On the 14th of July 1993 we started our journey to the Finnish group „Lahden Tanhuujat Koukkurinki“ which was in Stainz in summer 1992.
The first destination was the Finnish city of Kaustinen where
the 26th Folk-Music-Festival took place. Every year several
thousand musicians meet there. Among them in 1993 also our folk dancing group
and our Finnish friends. The Finnish nights were very exciting as the sun only
disappears for hardly half an hour.
Lahti was our second destination - the city where our
Finnish hosts live. The city of Lahti is a well-known winter sports resort with annual skiing competitions. Lahti owns a winter sports stadium, a multipurpose sports hall, an ice stadium and various skiing slopes. The alpine skiing world championships took place in Lahti in the years 1978 and 1989. |
In addition to the performances and the homely evenings we also went to the capital of Finland, Helsinki, on a day trip. Time went by very fast and after one week in Finland we had to say good bye.
After a day in Stockholm, the "Venice of the North" we went on to
the folk dancing group „Eksjö Folkdanslag“.
A very close friendship connects us with the Swedish group from Eksjö,
therefore the greeting was very cordial.
After several joint performances where we staged "Schuhplattler",
"Peitschenschnalzen" and sang folk songs also this stay came too fast
to an end.
With overwhelming impressions we had to start our journey back home.
After a city sight-seeing tour of Berlin we went on via Dresden, Prague, Budweis,
Linz and Wels to Stainz.
