Volkstanzgruppe Stainz

France

Our journey to France took place from July 11 to July 25, 1987.

We were invited to the 37th folk dancing festival in Brive-la-Gaillarde in central France.

On Saturday, July 11, we started our journey. We went by bus and stayed overnight in Salzburg, Bern and Lausanne and reached our final destination, Brive la Gaillarde, on the fourth day of our journey.

Our hosting group's name was „Bourree Limousine“. They organised the folk dancing festival.

At the folk dancing festival the host group, one group from the Philippines, another french group called "Lous Reoules" and our group staged at three public performances.

The different types of dances enthused the audience. We made an effort to present dances, compositions and songs which are typical for the region we come from.

International meetings are a great experience for every participant! Through this festival in Brive-la-Gaillarde we made new contacts to people from other countries and as a result many new friendships developed.

After the successful festival on July 20, 1993 we said good bye to our hosts and went on to the "Loiree-castles".

Moreover we also visited Orleans, Chatres, Paris, Reims and Strasbourg. From there we directly went back to Stainz where we arrived in the evening of July 25.
