Volkstanzgruppe Stainz

Frankreich

From August 20 to August 28, 2006 we bounded for France as representatives for Styria (Austria) where we proudly represented Austria at the “Fête du Houblon” in August 2006.

We travelled via Bregenz (western end of Austria) where we watched the final show of the play “Troubadour” at the sea promenade. After some sunny hours on the Flower Island of Mainau we went on to Luzern at the Vierwaldstädtersee in Switzerland.

From there we had three days to explore the surroundings: The historically impressing old town of Luzern, Grindelwald submontane to the huge mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as well as the birthplace of Wilhem Tell. After a ride with Europe’s steepest cog railway (48 % inclination) some of us (the brave ones) took a ride with the dry luge run.

After all these adventures we have already been awaited to arrive at the 47. Festival in Haguenau near Strasbourg. Among other participants from 4 continents, e. g. from countries like Mexico, Kameroun, India or Russia, the we showcased typical styrian whip cracking, traditional dances and musical performances.

The traditional costume has become our main piece of clothing during the days in France.

In particular our lads raised a cheer of the international audience for the spectacular “Schuhplattler”. Apart from 14 exhausting performances we had some time left to do some sight seeing in Strasbourg. The festival as well as our stay ended with a procession of all contributing groups.

Mexico and Austria – a good composition!

After this slightly different kind of travel and all in all 2470 km the exhausted wayfarers were cordially welcomed by the people who stayed at home when arriving in Stainz.
