One of the most important missions of our folk dancing group is to learn the various folk dances in order to perform them on different events. Besides the folk dancing we also preserve ancient customs such as "Peitschenschnalzen" (cracking whips), "Schuhplatteln" (slapping one's shoes and thighs), and "Fahnenschwingen" (swinging flags).
"Ausseer Steirischer" performed during the Styrian Evening at the festival hall in Stallhof |
"Holzhackerplattler" at the "Schilchertage" (a local wine festival) on the main square in Stainz |
Our activities are, however, not restricted to dancing. Many different activities have become inherent parts of the group over the years.
In winter, we organise a skiing trip.
Visits to theatres or cookery courses make sure that cultural and culinary pleasures are not missed out.
A highlight of the year is the so called "Preisschnapsen" — a group-internal card game tournament.
